It is the TV series that kicked off hundreds of beach runs, created international sex symbols, changed its central location from Los Angeles to Hawaii, and was canceled after its first season due to poor ratings before rebounding as a worldwide success. Syndication thanks to star David Hasselhoff’s confidence in the project and his willingness to act as executive producer.

Debut in 1989, Baywatch was in service for 11 seasons and delivered the short-lived spinoff series Baywatch Nights. The popular series also spawned three direct-to-video films the Baywatch, the Movie: Forbidden HeavenMalibu Alert: White Lightning at Glacier Bay, and also Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding, and was the inspiration for the 2017 comedy movie Baywatch starring Dwayne Johnson the rock, Zac Efron, and Priyanka Chopra.

Here’s a fast look at what happened to some key cast members:

David Hasselhoff (Mitch Buchannon)

Series chief, actor, singer, and producer David Hasselhoff played veteran lifeguard Mitch Buchannon, who watched over his younger show colleagues on the LA-County set for over 200 episodes. .. Baywatch made Hasselhoff an international star, although after the show ended, he was often cataloged. “The Hoff,” as he became known popularly, appeared on the Broadway in 2000 in Jekyll and Hyde and went on to feature in filmed productions, including The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (produced in 2004), Sons of Anarchy (in 2011), Piranha 3DD (2012), News Readers (2014-2015),  Sharknado 3 (2015) andSharknado 4 (2016). Hasselhoff often appeared onscreen himself, or a thinly veiled version of it, including Killing Hasselhoff (2017) and as a mentor in the Baywatch comedy kickoff the same year.

He was a judge of America Has Talent in 2006, participated in Dancing with the Stars in early 2010, and launched a social networking site called HoffSpace in 2008. Hasselhoff has released over a dozen albums and caused a sensation in Europe. Notably, in Austria, where he had nine top 30 songs, and in Germany, where he released ten albums.

A video taken in 2007 by his daughter, Taylor Ann, showed him extremely drunk at home. Hasselhoff said the video was deliberately released on TV and that in 2009 his lawyer told ABC News that his client was a recovering alcoholic in recovery.

Hasselhoff first married actress Catherine Hickland (1984-1989), then actress Pamela Bach (1989), with whom he has two daughters, Taylor Ann and Hayley. He starred with the two on the reality TV series The Hasselhoff’s on A & E. Hasselhoff married Hayley Roberts in a ceremony in Italy in 2018.

Pamela Anderson (CJ Walker)

Her face and body were already known from Labatt beer ads and appeared in the pages of Playboy magazine, but Canadian-born Pamela Anderson has become an international sex symbol due to her recurring role as CJ Walker in Baywatch, which ran from 1992 to 1997.

While he was never a star on the big screen, Anderson had success on television with the VIP series(1998 to 2013; 2002), but less with Stripperella (2003 to 2013; 2004) and Stacked (2005 to 2013; 2006). She made an appearance as herself in Borat: America’s Cultural Learning to Make the Nation of Kazakhstan Glorious (2006) and appeared in the revamp of The Hills (2019). Anderson has also competed on Dancing with the Stars (in 2010 and 2012), as well as international variations of the show in Argentina (in 2011) and France (in 2018). She appeared on UK reality TV Dancing on Ice(2013) as well as the Big Brother franchise in India (2010) and the United Kingdom (2012). She also brought back the character of CJ in an appearance in the 2017 Baywatch movie remake.

A declared animal rights and environmental activist, Anderson has worked with PETA for more than two decades and has become a spokesperson for MAC Cosmetics MAC AIDS Fund in 2005, was a celebrity spokesman for the American Liver Foundation, and also campaigned against the seal hunt in Canada. In mid-2016, in a statement to People magazine, Anderson called WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange a “hero” and visited him in prison in the UK in May 2019. She also offered her public support to the yellow vest movement in France.

Anderson married actor Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee in 1995. The couple, who have two lovely sons together, Brandon and Dylan, divorced in 1998 after Lee’s arrest and conviction for domestic violence. Anderson had then engaged in the role of Marcus Schenkenberg before a union again with singer Kid Rock resulted in a marriage in 2006 and a divorce the same year. She married movie producer Rick Salomon in 2007 and requested that the marriage be called off that same year. The couple remarried and divorced in 2014.

Michael Newman

Michael Newman was the only cast member with the same name on the screen. Originally hired as a technical consultant for the TV show, Newman had worked as a real-life lifeguard and was originally used to ensure that on-screen rescues would look genuine before eventually moving on to a regular actor. . Newman, married with two children, never acted after Baywatch endedInstead, he focused on selling real estate in the Pacific Palisades of California. In 2011, he revealed that he had been battling for Parkinson’s disease for the previous five years.

Alexandra Paul (Lt. Stephanie Holden)

From 1992 to 1997, Alexandra Paul played love for the series’ main character, Mitch Buchannon (Hasselhoff), until her personality, Lieutenant Stephanie Holden, was killed in a boating accident at sea. Since snapping up the red swimsuit, Paul has appeared in over 100 productions, including Melrose Place (1999), Crazy Men (2008), Fire Tremor (2014), and Sharknado 4(2016). Paul married Ian Murray, a triathlon coach, in 2000. An activist for environmental, suffrage, and peace causes, Paul has been arrested more than a dozen times while demonstrating. Vegan Paul has been driving cool electric cars since early 1990, is also a health coach, and has written and produced documentaries including Jam Packed: The Challenge of Human Overpopulation (in 1997) and also The Cost of Cool: Finding Happiness in a Materialistic World. (in 2001).

Jeremy Jackson (Hobie Buchannon)

As Hobie Buchannon, the son of Hasselhoff’s character, Jeremy Jackson has become a recognized face thanks to his nearly ten-year appearances in Baywatch. Another elusive success was for the erstwhile star, who embarked on a musical career with the help of co-star Hasselhoff in the 90s and organized fashion shows for the Ed Hardy brand before the addiction to music. Methamphetamine and steroids did result in multiple rehab stints and clashes with the police.

Like his co-star Anderson, Jackson has attempted to revive his entertainment career with stints on reality TV shows, including Confessions of a Teen Idol (2009), Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew (2011), and Britain Big Brother Celebrity (2015).

In mid-2017, Jackson was sentenced to 270 days in prison for stabbing in 2015. According to his official Instagram account in 2019, Jackson would present himself as a Brazilian Ju-Jitsu champion, recovery coach, actor/artist, personal trainer , a leader, and a meditator.
