The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) is a state agency responsible for overseeing the unemployment insurance program and employment services for residents across the state of Indiana, US. Besides unemployment benefits for job seekers, DWD also manages the tax collection and appeals for both employers and employees. As for applying for unemployment benefits, you can approach the nearest WorkOne Career Center for assistance. The DWD also operates the Uplink web portal, where you can apply for benefits. If you have been unemployed for no fault of your own, you might be eligible to make a claim. You must also be able and available to work and must have earned sufficient wages in your base period (the first 4 of the last 5 completed calendar quarters).

When you submit the claim online, you will need to furnish a copy of your Driver’s license along with your social security number. The form should also have details of your recent employment along with contacts of your employer. Do fill in your bank account number if you choose to receive payment as direct deposit. After your claim has been accepted, you will need to submit a “weekly voucher” for prompt payments. As you are aware, benefits are paid on a weekly basis. For most applications, the DWD sends a determination within 10 business days. If your claim application was rejected, you could schedule an appeal for a hearing. The length of time till when you would receive benefits is based on the amount paid during the base period. Currently, the maximum length of benefit is set to 39 weeks. The maximum weekly benefit amount is $390.

According to the information posted on the website, claimants can estimate their weekly benefit amount by dividing total base period wages by 52. The result must then be multiplied by 0.47. The first payment will be received within three weeks. Payment can be received through direct bank deposit to a checking/savings account or through a prepaid Mastercard. The card can be used to withdraw cash or for shopping wherever Mastercard is accepted. For the uninitiated, after you start receiving benefits, you are required to actively seek employment. For the same, you can make use of the official Indiana Career Connect portal. After registering on the platform, you can search for a job by location or industry and connect with the employer.
