Montero Lamar Hill, aka Lil Nas, was (born April 9, 1999) and is known professionally as Lil Nas X. He is an American singer, rapper, and songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia. He is popularly known for his country rap single album titled “Old Town Road,” which achieved a viral popularity as part of the “Yeehaw Challenge” on the content sharing app TikTok. The “Old Town Road” topped at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and was controversially pulled down from the Hot Country Songs following debuting at number 19.
Lil Nas X started his music career as an internet personality on his Twitter account. He gained fame through his Nicki Minaj fan account called “NasMaraj,” named after Minaj’s given name, “Marat,” and a rapper, Nas. In mid-2015, Lil Nas X became known for his viral tweets and different fan page, “FactsAboutNM.” In 2017, “NasMaraj” was then known for its interactive “scenario threads.” These internet threads were popularized on Twitter handles with the dashboard application TweetDeck.
The rooms were based on surviving a “School Shooting,” which can be seen on his other account, “views from as.” Through these social media accounts, Montero accumulated a massive following and, with the encouragement of his followers, started making music.
He began uploading music to SoundCloud in early 2018. On December 3, 2018, he published the country rap song titled “Old Town Road.” The song went super viral in early 2019 because of the “Yeehaw Challenge” meme on the media app TikTok. The “Old Town Road” debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 charts at number 83 and later peaking at position 15. It similarly debuted on the Hot Country Songs chart at position 19 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at 36, being controversially withdrawn from the former in March 2019.
Country music player Billy Ray Cyrus has since helped Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” in a viral tweet, and he is a highlighted vocalist in a remix of the song published in early April 2019.
Nike shoe company is suing the creators of a pair of so-called popular “Satan Shoes” propelled by rapper Lil Nas X for a copyright infringement.
The black and red-colored Nike Air Max 97s, customized by quirky art brand MSCHF, emphasize a pentagram – a symbol of Satanism – on top, and it is said that each shoe contains just “one drop” of human blood in the sole.
The trainers – revealed with Lil Nas X on March 2021 – also feature a reference to the bible verse of Luke 10:18 on the side, which says: “He replied, ‘I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.”
According to the XXL Magazine, the trainers sold out in less than a minute when they went up for over $1,018.
Nike was very quick to distance itself from the release, saying it did not have anything to do with the custom-made shoes, amid concerns the sportswear titan could be seen to be endorsing Satanism.
The organization now wants MSCHF to stop selling the custom shoes, which bear its famous swoosh emblem.
In the claim, Nike says: “MSCHF and its unlawful Satan Shoes are likely to cause confusion and dilution and create an inaccurate association between MSCHF’s products and Nike.
