Sal Governale, or simply Sal The Stockbroker as we have all come to know him by, is one form many lookouts for on the Show. Sal was formerly a frequent guest on the show who took enjoyment in mocking the then executive producer of the production, Gary Dell’Abate, Stern took a record of him, and when the show’s backbone Stuttering John left, he (Mr. Stern) held an on-air competition called “Win John’s Job,” and Sal Governale was one of the main contestants.

Sal Governale was born on the 24th of October in 1968, in Long Island, New York City, with full names Salvatore C. Governale. His parents are religious Muslims whose lineage is traced to North Africa. Sal is said to have transformed to Catholicism during his youthful years as a result of his dislike for his birth religion.
Growing up as a boy, Sal Governale served in his father’s kabob shop, where he regularly butchered lambs in the alley. He was not coordinated adequately to get into sports as a young teenager quickly, so he was involved more in other activities like breakdancing and rapping.

After finishing his High School, Sal headed to the community college intending to study radiology but quickly dropped out of college and began job hunting. Following several short-lived jobs, he soon found some solace in the stock market as a skilled stockbroker, working ceaselessly in the boiler room transactions (outbound call center) to sell money stocks to widows and orphans.
Several of his co-workers were convicted of securities fraud, and Sal barely escaped jail term by consenting to testify against his fellow colleagues. While serving as a stockbroker, he found pleasure in asking in on the Howard Stern Show to make some phone pranks and mock the then managing producer of the program, Gary Dell’Abate. After coming second in the show named “Win John’s Job” contest, he was appointed as a writer for the show.
Sal Governale assumed the stage name “Sal, The Stockbroker” and shortly become well known on the program for his prank phone calls and the various stunts he performs on this show with. Sai denies being a racist despite doing some crass racial humor on the tv show, as well as in stand-up TV appearances.
